SUMMARY: While the initial mines were established in the 1880s, the remnants of the Moorehouse Mine and Ibex Springs area primarily date back to the 1930s.


John Moorehouse established 16 talc mines during the 1930s, extracting more than one thousand tons of talc by 1941. Subsequently, operations were leased to the Sierra Talc Company. The majority of the ore was exhausted by 1960, and the mines were shut down by 1968.
