Gold discoveries of 1863 led to the founding of the Galena townsite. A Post Office operated from 1871-1887.

Rhyolite Ghost Town is located in the Bullfrog Mining District of Nevada. Rhyolite was founded in 1905 after gold was discovered the prior year.
