SUMMARY: The Betty O'Neal Mine commenced operations in 1881 following the discovery of silver. There were high hopes for the Betty O'Neal. However, a catastrophic explosion occurred in late 1882, resulting in one fatality. in 1883, another explosion took place. Additionally, the decline of surrounding mines contributed to the brief existence of the Betty O'Neal Mine. The mine closed in 1883.
The mine was operational once more from 1907 to 1911 and again from 1922 to 1932, after which it ceased operations permanently. A post office operated from 1925-1932.
