SUMMARY: Grantsville was initially discovered between the years 1863 and 1864. The settlement developed to a population of fewer than 100 individuals. It was not until the 1870s that the town experienced significant growth.
n 1877, a twenty-stamp mill was constructed. A few years thereafter, it underwent expansion to accommodate a 40-stamp mill. By the year 1881, the population of Grantsville had grown to approximately one thousand residents, alongside around 40 commercial establishments.
Following the closure of the post office in 1901, minor mining activities continued until 1947.
