SUMMARY: n the 1860s, the area served as a recognized watering stop for travelers and was also associated with small-scale mining activities.

By 1907, significant discoveries of new ore had been made, leading to a period of economic boom. A post office was established in 1909, and by 1910, the town boasted its own school, hotel, saloons, and stores.

The mines began to play out in 1918 and the boom was over. Mining continued during the 20's and 30's with varying degrees of success. The post office closed in 1931, and the town was abandoned sometime around 1940.
