Project Shoal was an underground nuclear test conducted by the United States on October 26, 1963. Although often associated with the Nevada Test Site, it was not carried out on the main test range. Instead, it took place at a separate, remote location in Nevada called the Shoal Site—part of the Central Nevada Test Area (CNTA), about 30 miles southwest of Fallon, in the Sand Springs Mountains.
