SUMMARY: In the fall of 1969, the Manson "family" sought refuge in Death Valley as they evaded capture for a series of murders committed in the Los Angeles region.
It is said that Charlie and his gang utilized this deserted mine to conceal emergency provisions and serve as a clandestine refuge from law enforcement authorities. Charlie and his gang were eventually arrested about 10 miles from this mine.
