Nevada City, MT

WHEN: 1865 - 1896

POST OFFICE: 1865 - 1875

POPULATION: 1000 peak

SUMMARY: Nevada City was established in 1863 following the discovery of gold in the Alder Gulch area and was officially incorporated in 1865.

The Post Office commenced operations in 1865 and ceased functioning in 1875. By the year 1896, the town had largely been deserted.

The majority of the structures were obliterated following 1896, when the mining corporation commenced dredge mining operations in the vicinity. Dredge mining persisted until the early 1930s.

Currently, Nevada City serves as a historical landmark and open-air museum. Most of the buildings present were relocated from other adjacent ghost towns and mining camps to guarantee their preservation.
